Feb Blog – Roller Coaster Riding

Link

Well we have successfully survived the January doldrums and are eagerly looking forward to some exciting weekends and even weekdays in the coming month!

I for one am celebrating both of those events ;the survival part and the excitment to come parts!  I guess I am still learning how to go with the flow of living in a seasonal economy that is so prevalent here in the Columbia Valley.  It’s kind of like riding a roller coaster of working like busy bees every long weekend and summer day when so many visitors enjoy what Radium and area has to offer, and then almost hibernating from November until March, along with our neighborhod bears, who could probably use a treatment or two themselves!

I want to let you know that 3 of the Therapists that work from Bare Hands Day spa are not hibernating  through February and are indeed here and ready to give any clients braving the roads (which have been pretty fine for the most part this winter) some of the best valued treatments available.
Let me tell you first about our newest full time team member Misti.  Misti has been a reflexologist and massage therapist for  almost 9 years, and specializes in Russian Medical Massage.  She grew up in the valley and has worked at a number of the great spas through the area.  The Russian medical massage is a style that utilizes compression, jiggling, and friction strokes to relax and release tension in the body.  It is a great way to assist in relaxation or rehabilitation.  Misti  has offered a very generous special of the month that is to offer a 1/2 hr gift certificate to any recipient of a one hour massage.  So you receiving a one hour massage could help you share the benefit of massage with a friend or family member.  This is available weekdays only until Mar 15, 2012.  She also gives a great pedicure and you can quiz her on some of the best spots to eat  or be entertained in the valley.

Over the past year many of our clients may have spoke to, been booked by or better yet been cared for in the Esthetics department or received a Lomi Lomi body alignment therapy from a wonderful therapist named Jean here at BHDS.  Jean has 20 +years in the industry and brings her genuine warmth to every interaction.  Jean’s special until Mar 15 is to upgrade your 60 minute Lomi Lomi  treatment to a 90 minute one for the lower price Mondays through Friday availability. The third Therapist that is available these winter months here at Bare Hands Day Spa is owner Heather Fischbuch.  Heather has been a massage and  reflexologist for 26 years and aromatherapist for over 10.  She loves her works and aims to let that fact shine through in each and every treatment.  A comfortable yet therapeutic style of massage which incorporates techniques  from Swedish, lymphatic drainage, reflexology and body talk assist many client to feel significant improvements after each treatment.  Heather winter special includes upgrading a 30 minute to a 45 minute massage for the lower price and offering 6 hand reflexology sessions for the great price of $100.  These sessions are a great kick start to optimizing your health. You so deserve it!Yes you! She loves sharing tid bits on nutritional information or better yet ask about Aromatherapy for specific challenges and you’ll make her day.

We  will be looking forward to seeing you at one of the many special events here in the coming weeks such as the Pond Hockey tourny, Ladies curling bonspeil.  We know how to have fun out here and invite you to come share some with us soon. If those were not enough reason to visit,  another is Toursim Radium has developed some great pricing on all inclusive packages for the winter months to encourage your visits. We at Bare Hands  are one of the services you can fill your visit with.  Make sure to ask any of the 17 accomodaters listed in the package for the Bare Hands Day Spa  Romance retreat or 1 hour massage option.
Cheers and enjoy your winter!

December news

January 2012 Bare Hands Day Spa News

Hello all clients and guests and best wishes for a wonderful and health filled 2012.  We had a very busy holiday season at Bare Hands with the team of Heather, Misti, Jean, and Crisanna operating like a finely tuned and practiced band.   Must be a left over of all those concerts I went to in December that has me thinking along those lines, but you get the drift.

I hope that you and yours shared some good times and made some great memories over the holidays and even through out the past year.  At this changing of the calendar it is a great time to reflect on our accomplishments big and small and look forward and plan for what you’d like to see in the coming year also.

Here at the spa I am happy to report we achieved many of our 2011 goals.  Some of these include: targeting more groups for “Spa Days” , all BHDS therapists received some specialized trainings through out the year, several aromatherapy courses were taught, we co hosted a retreat with Big Horn Meadows ,our website was greatly upgraded, marketing with other Radium businesses increased,  and we saw more clients than in any previous year of operation.

From those happy and doable accomplishments we look forward to  more growth in the coming year.

All of these business targets aside, I want you to know that I love what I do, thoroughly enjoy the team that I work with, and know that each of the therapists here at Bare Hands,  wants the absolute best for their clients every day.  It is very rewarding work and we feel honored to do it.  We hope you will feel free to ask questions of your therapists and know that the treatment you receive is much more to you and us than a 1 hour interaction.  We hope for repeat visits because you enjoyed your spa service here so much!   Reports of increased, health, comfort, mobility, or even  better skin ,  as a result of your treatments here are  the expectation we work from.  With this as our New Years intention renewal,  and a few other intentions that will be written about in the coming weeks,  we hope to inspire you to visit our cozy spa in the Prestige Hotel at Radium Hot springs soon.

Cheers to 2012 and to you our valued clients!

November Update 2011

Hi folks,  hope you have enjoyed your autumn months.  Winter is upon us here in Radium, but the sparkles on the snow and watching the sheep in the village make it quite  wonderful in it’s own way.  It is always quite toasty in the spa when you need a break from the cool scenery though!

For those of you that receive our newsletter you’ll have read that we had a few special events in the past month.  Dr Dubay an Aryuvedic from Delhi saw a number of clients and taught Spa owner Heather a new electro acupuncture technique.  These treatments will be available to anyone interested beginning in December.  They may be added on to another service or booked on their own.  Good results are being experienced by friends, staff and family that Heather has been practicing on in November.

Also there is still time to register for the other November special event, namely the Busy Girl Escape which is to be held at Big Horn Meadows on Nov 25, 26 and 27.  If a relaxing retreat with girl friends is on your to do list check out the info on it on our friends page or give Valarie at Big Horn Meadows a call (250-347-2171)  for more info.  We’d love to see you there for a spa treatment or two.

One other offering we hope will catch on is our mini workshops held in the Spa Store every month.  On November 30, Jean,  our fabulous Lomi Lomi practitioner ( among  many other hats she wears here at the spa) , will be offering a introduction to the alignment body work technique of Lomi Lomi.  If you would like to learn more about this ancient Hawaiian style of body work give us a call at 250-347-2121.

On the business front of the business we are going to be utilizing a new scheduling soft ware program starting December 1 and are looking forward to the increased organization and options this will provide to both staff and clients.  Will take my techie vitamins this week so that my brain can hopefully keep up with the progress…;)

In the coming months we will be offering some great winter package options in conjunction with tourism Radium to make your stay in our wonderful winter wonderland special and economical.   Check out Tourism Radium website or our face book page for more details.  While speaking of face book , like us at barehandsdayspa and we will be drawing for a prize on Jan. 1, 2012 from all our connections.  Oh the joys of social media , and it keeps us updated with all you readers too.

Until next time the writing muse calls , cheerio and warm wishes from Heather and all the therapists at Bare Hands Day spa.

Welcome to Our Blog

Well happy fall to our great clients, newsletter and blog readers. In an attempt to follow the advice to “do something that scares you occasionally” I am writing my first blog post.
After a busy thanksgiving weekend, the biggest thing on my mind is lots of gratitude for great clients, fun groups and wonderful staff. The fall weekends are proving to be a great time to have a spa party with a bunch of friends or family. We’ve hosted a few such groups recently and not sure who has more fun the guests or the staff. A group of 8 cousins recently spent the afternoon with us and the laughs they shared had folks in the lobby peeking in to see if they could join the merriment in the spa store!
Speaking of the spa store it has undergone a significant transition. The store part of it is significantly reduced and the service part of it is enlarged for more comfortable group pedicure and manicure space. It will also double as small workshop space in the coming weeks.
We will be offering aromatherapy learning opportunities and other topics as arise, in this space and will post dates in our newsletter,on this website, and on face book. Please send a query or request if you have an idea for a short workshop or class.
Well all for today. Happy autumn and will leave you with the thought that a candle does not lose any of it’s light in sharing it’s flame. Share your light.
